NY Chemical Regulation Bill Dies

By | June 2016

A bill that would ban the sale of certain chemicals in children’s products has died in the New York legislature as Members adjourned for the rest of 2016.  VI and our coalition partners met earlier this year with members of the New York legislature to express our opposition to the bill which would have prohibited the sale of children’s products containing vinyl chloride and a number of phthalates and additives used in vinyl products.

With federal TSCA reform having been signed into law by President Obama, states will have a harder time implementing their own chemical regulatory systems.  VI will continue working with our partners in states across the country to protect our industry’s interest and prevent a patchwork of various chemical regulatory systems for business to navigate.
