Congress Passes Save Our Seas Act of 2018

By | October 2018

Congress has unanimously approved the Save Our Seas Act of 2018 (S. 3508) to address the growing issue of marine debris.  The act reauthorizes the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s (NOAA) Marine Debris Program which promotes international action to reduce marine debris.  The legislation requires NOAA, the Department of State, and other federal agencies to provide technical assistance to improve and expand waste management systems internationally.  The bill would also direct Congress to develop international agreements that focus on improving waste management systems.  Check out more details in our analysis.
