By | May 2020

Last week the industry lost one of its most respected colleagues, Gwain Cornish. The Vinyl Institute of Canada published this fitting tribute that we wanted to share with the industry. We join the Vinyl Institute of Canada in extending our deepest sympathy and condolences to the Cornish family.

It is with heavy hearts that we share with you the news of the passing of one of our vinyl industry’s most respected colleagues, Gwain Cornish.

Much loved by all in the vinyl industry and beyond, Gwain was known most of all for his deep love for his family, his indisputable support of his work colleagues, his passion for golf, and his all-around positivity. Gwain was an Ambassador of Life. Gwain began his career with BF Goodrich, then with the Royal Group, and completed his tenure in the industry at Vision Group with his long-time friend and colleague, Vic DeZen.

Several of Gwain’s friends and colleagues shared their thoughts, stories, and love for Gwain.

“I met Gwain in the 70’s. At first I saw a brilliant chemist, and quickly recognized his pure heart, his love of his family, especially his lovely wife Wendy. He was honest, hard-working and loyal, and he worked with me up until his last day. Gwain was an incredible human being who I will miss very much! Our hearts, love, and prayers are with his family now and forever,” said Vic DeZen Vision Group.

“There is so much to be said that will be unsaid about Gwain Cornish, but most importantly, Gwain was all about family and friends. He dearly and deeply loved his family and cherished his grandchildren,” said Dick Heinle, Formosa Plastics Corp. USA. “As soon as anyone met Gwain, a friendship was forged forever. We have all been blessed in our lives to have had the privilege of spending time with Gwain, who was a role model for all!”

“Gwain was very special – he was always full of life and love but most uniquely, he had a therapeutic personality. The vinyl industry thanks him for his selfless synergistic contributions and will miss his magic,” said Veso Sobot, IPEX Group of Companies.

“Gwain was someone I admired, he always treated people with respect, he was very professional and knowledgeable, a statesman for the vinyl industry. He always made time for me and everyone, his “open door” approach to work and life made him someone easy to talk to whenever you needed advice,” said Tony Vella, Vision Group. “Gwain’s greatest achievement in life was his family who were always his first priority. We will all miss Gwain very much, and at this sad time, we send our love and prayers to his family.”

On behalf of the entire vinyl industry, the Vinyl Institute of Canada extends sincere condolences and prayers to Gwain’s family, grandchildren, friends, colleagues, and all those who loved him.
