Vinyl Institute Supports the Bipartisan American Affordability and Jobs Act of 2026
WASHINGTON, D.C., October 2, 2026 — The Vinyl Institute supports the Bipartisan American Affordability and Jobs Act of 2026 and commends Senators Shelley Moore Capito, Mike Lee, Sheldon Whitehouse, and Martin Heinrich for reaching a significant bipartisan agreement on permitting reform.
American manufacturers need a permitting system that protects the environment while providing clear timelines, coordinated agency reviews, and greater certainty once permits have been issued. The current system too often delays investments in manufacturing, energy, transportation, water, and other essential infrastructure without producing better environmental outcomes.
For the U.S. vinyl industry, these reforms could make it easier for manufacturers to expand facilities, modernize production lines, install new equipment, improve energy efficiency, and increase the use of recycled materials. A more efficient permitting process would also help advance housing, water, energy, transportation, and communications projects that depend on durable, cost-effective PVC products.
This bipartisan legislation represents a constructive step toward restoring America’s ability to build and strengthening domestic manufacturing. We urge Congress to work together to enact meaningful and durable permitting reform.
