President Trump Formally Nominates Wheeler to Lead EPA

By | January 2019

President Trump has officially nominated Andrew Wheeler to serve as administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency.  Wheeler has been serving as acting administrator for the last six months since Administrator Scott Pruitt stepped down from the position last July.

“I am honored and grateful that President Trump has nominated me to lead the Environmental Protection Agency,” Wheeler said in a statement.  “For me, there is no greater responsibility than protecting human health and the environment, and I look forward to carrying out this essential task on behalf of the American public.”

Wheeler’s nomination must now be approved by the Senate.  With 53 Republicans, 45 Democrats, and 2 Independents, Wheeler’s nomination is expected to easily clear the Senate.
