Priorities for the 116th Congress

Conflicting priorities between the Democratic-controlled House and the Republican-controlled Senate are sure to make for an interesting year in the 116th Congress. Besides more oversight of the Trump Administration, Democrats in the House have outlined a number of priorities, including addressing climate change, campaign ethics and voting rights, cutting drug prices and fortifying Obamacare, raising the minimum wage, rolling back GOP tax reforms, and reinvesting in US infrastructure.  Republicans in the Senate, on the other hand, will be focusing on confirming judicial nominees, support for the border wall, lowering drug prices and rolling back Obamacare, balancing House Democrats oversight of the administration, and defending tax reform. About the only area both parties agree on is that the country needs more funding for infrastructure. How to pay for that is another story.
