VI Calls on Congress to Support WRDA Bill

By | June 2016

The Vinyl Institute and Vinyl Building Council joined 85 other organizations in calling on the Senate to bring S.2848, the Water Resources Development Act (WRDA) of 2016 to the floor before July 15, when Congress breaks for summer recess.  The legislation provides strong support for the nation’s water infrastructure, including critical funding for pipeline projects, ports, waterways, dams and flood control systems.

A recent EPA report found that nearly $400 billion in additional funding would be needed to bring water systems into compliance with current standards.  A 2010 report from the US Conference of Mayors estimates that spending requirements for the next 20 years for both water and wastewater systems would be $3.8 trillion.
