VI Calls on Senate to Confirm Wheeler to Lead EPA

By | February 2019

The Vinyl Institute joined the American Alliance for Innovation (AAI) in calling on the Senate to confirm EPA Acting Administrator Andrew Wheeler.  AAI is a large coalition of trade associations and industry groups representing the chemistry value chain.  The group has a keen interest in TSCA reform and EPA’s implementation of the Frank R. Lautenberg Chemical Safety for the 21st Century Act (LCSA).  LCSA was signed into law on June 22, 2016, and reforms the nation’s process for reviewing chemicals in commerce.  Having a confirmed administrator would help ensure EPA meets its timeline for LCSA implementation and priority chemical reviews.

“Acting Administrator Wheeler’s confirmation will provide the American people and the regulated community with more certainty and confidence in the EPA’s ability to continue meeting its mission of protecting human health and the environment, including the ongoing implementation of the 2016 amendments to the Toxic Substances Control Act as Congress envisioned,” the letter read.  “Mr. Wheeler’s considerable experience in the environmental field, his past public service to our nation in the legislative and executive branches and his ongoing service as Acting Administrator of EPA make him the ideal choice to continue leading the agency.”
